Oscar Fashion: The Good, The Bad, The…?

A vision in white

Yes, we know that everyone is buzzing about the flood of red dresses at the Oscars this year. And while red is nice, it’s the white dresses that really stood out for us. Some stars rocked it better than others, but we applaud the variety and shall we say, “self-expression” that this year’s Oscar nominees and attendees showcased. Gwyneth went mod, Michelle and Celine went for column dresses with VERY different looks. Anne went embellished, Nicole went… OK, we’re not really sure how to describe what she was trying for, but as for Melissa? Well she went home with the Oscar so who cares that her dress looked as if it were made of crocheted doilies. And yikes, is that a SPIDER on Charlize’s midriff? Moving on…

A vision in white

On to black, and black with white. There was good (Reese and Kelly, we’re looking at you), then there was the mysterious use of feathers or maybe Muppet fur that made it appear that dresses were molting, shedding or in need of a session with the local groomer. And is it just us, or does Sharon’s intense stare make you want to run and hide Dalmatian puppies too?

Basic black and then some

Ah color – lavender and plums, some SO right, some, not quite. Those gorgeous light shades of lilac stood out from the red carpet in the most complimentary way. Mila, Cate, thumbs up for bold choices. Joan, we’re sure whatever is growing on that dress would never harm a diva such as yourself. Natalie glows like a hot mamma and Scarlett? We are fascinated by how the colors of her tattoo coordinate perfectly with Rita’s dress and jewelry. Wow. As for Rita’s bag – there are no words. Bravo women of Hollywood! You never fail to entertain us.
