Our team is completely smitten with the lavish sets of the Jazz Age film. Designer Catherine Martin re-created the 1920s aesthetic of Daisy and Gatsby’s homes with a beautiful collection of Art Deco furniture and décor.

Each of the 42 individual sets tells a piece of the timeless tale. The title character, Jay Gatsby, resides in a manor outfitted with sweeping staircases, luxurious crystal chandeliers and sconces and polished hardwood floors, perfect for throwing his over-the-top parties.

Cozy, Colorful Midwestern Home: Get The Look

We’re smitten with this cozy Midwestern home’s inviting aesthetic. It’s proof once and for all that white furniture and walls don’t have to be plain. By choosing interesting, personal and colorful accessories, this modern cottage’s neutral foundation pops.

Even in a neutral kitchen and dining room, solid white dishware can make a bold statement. The cohesive collection of pitchers, bowls and plates makes us think of vintage farmhouse table settings and intimate family dinners. In the little girl’s bedroom and the office, as in the living room, bright accents remain top priority for the homeowner. To steal this idea, toss contemporary throw pillows on the bed in splashy shades of orange, pink and green.

Colorful Spring Get The Look

To all of us at Layla Grayce, the onset of spring means the promise of bright pops of color and sunlight streaming inside, the chance to unabashedly embrace nature motifs and feminine floral accents. And we must say, stylist Kim Timmerman mastered the look with this space, which is both cheery and refreshing.

Below, a bright wall and floral bouquet are all that are needed to add interest to this this simple but striking vignette, no accessories necessary. Taking cues from a floral print featuring shades of coral, pink and green, an eclectic collection of mismatched china in a variety of shapes seem to blend together seamlessly.

One thing that particularly stands out in this space is the masterful mix of patterns. Bright patterned wallpaper in the bedroom doesn’t mean you should stray from pattern elsewhere. Instead, go bold with bright linens, the only rule being to choose patterns in various shades of the same color to prevent a too-busy effect.

Once again, florals steal the show, adding a flirty, feminine vibe to this outdoor space, while the more rustic wood floors, bench and shelving keep things from feeling too “precious” or unlivable. Tying into the rest of the decor, the coral color finds a place in this living area as well, mixing beautifully with pale lavender and pinks.

Got spring fever? Getting the look of this feminine spring-like abode in your own home could just require a few key pieces, a few of which we curated just for you! Not ready to embark on floral wallpaper? Opt for tableware or throw pillows instead. But most importantly, choose pieces you truly love. Here are a few of our favorites:

Get The Look: Revenge

If you watch Revenge, you know that the show’s interior design is practically one of the main characters! Villain Victoria Grayson’s tasteful Hamptons home is so beautiful that it’s easy to overlook her sinister ways—we think you’ll agree that one of television’s most evil characters does have very good taste, indeed.

Stealing the show from Victoria and Conrad in this scene (above) is gorgeous lighting from Oly Studio, including the Serena drum chandelier. Below, in the Grayson Manor conservatory, slipcovered dining chairs and candles casting a warm glow make for a cozy dining area.

In the great room, Victoria sits perched on her throne, a wingback chair featuring a Parisian chic print. The room’s size and high ceilings demand large-scale furnishings, yet despite its size, the great room still feels comfortable thanks to it warm-toned color palette, fireplace with dark wood surround, and fluffy pillowback sofas.

The master bedroom is a study of contrasts, with light walls, dark side tables, a headboard with light fabric and dark wood trim, and light metallic-base lamps donning black shades. The result is sophisticated and elegant, neither too masculine nor too feminine.

Victoria even has her very own potting shed, which embraces sunny seaside style with a spindle desk, shingled walls and skylights. Below, the style in Victoria’s daughter Charlotte’s room is classic but slightly younger and more colorful. We love the color combination of slate blue walls with eggplant purple and mustard yellow accents. Designers We Love: Phoebe Howard

Atlanta-based designer Phoebe Howard’s aesthetic is quintessentially Southern, comfortable, timeless and elegant. Howard is known for her fresh take on traditional style, which is evident in the many of her projects. These are a few of our favorites.

One thing that remains consistent throughout Howard’s work is her masterful use of neutral color palettes. Her work also illustrates the power of symmetry, as seen in this bedroom, which creates a sense of order and formality.

Howard’s expertise extends to choosing and placing accessories. On a coffee table, Howard opts for a well-edited selection of just three glass jugs, a stack of coffee table books and bit of greenery for freshness. Well placed lamps, chandeliers and sconces add plenty of light options throughout her interiors.

A bedroom does double duty as a seating area thanks to a cleverly placed sofa, coffee table and two upholstered chairs at the foot of the bed.

Plush seating areas are a telltale mark of Howard’s work, seen below in the form of a cozy nap-inducing chaise boasting two soft pillows and a throw.

Howard’s advice for pillows on a sofa? Mix and match fabrics and limit patterned fabrics to one set of pillows per sofa. Also, start from the outside with two larger pillows and work your way in, throwing in an odd shape to keep the look from feeling too symmetrical.

Six pieces of framed art are the focal point in a smaller seating area (below right), equipped with a sofa, two upholstered chairs and a small bench for guests to pull up a seat and chat. In another larger seating area, complete with a chaise, the focus is kept on the view outside the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Howard took a risk by placing a bed in the center of the bedroom, but it paid dividends. Just look at this gorgeous space! Not only did this choice help with traffic flow to all corners of the room, it also allows the homeowner to peer through the French doors to the views outside each morning.

Notice anything in particular about these two spaces? In the living room, a painting above the sofa serves as the room’s artwork, while the walls themselves are the art in the bedroom, featuring a mural that creates the perfect backdrop for this beautiful space.

Get The Look: Downton Abbey

Season 3 of Downton Abbey premiered over the weekend. Did you watch? The plot, characters and fashion aside, it’s the interior design that keeps us looking forward to each episode! Filmed onsite at Highclere Castle and set at the end of the Edwardian Era, Downton’s set reflects an eclectic range of styles and influences. In particular: pastel colors, lightweight fabrics and furniture designed with delicate lines and upholstered in fabrics with floral design.

Image from Highclere Castle

Highly polished wood floors with oriental rugs (above) appear in the music room, flaunting ornate style with its baroque ceiling, Italian tapestries and gilt details. Located at center is a simple English tea table.

Image from itv

The Grantham family embraces gorgeous gilt details in the drawing room as well, on frames, molding and French-style armchairs. During this time, electric lighting was just beginning to be introduced in grander homes, seen here in a chandelier that’s dripping with cut glass. Pastel green damask wallpaper and needlepoint tapestry pillows with floral accents add a touch of Edwardian femininity.

Image from Highclere Castle

In one of the bedrooms, a charming four-poster bed is decorated with 18th century silks and matching furniture. Although smaller in size than those from the Victorian era, which preceded the Edwardian era, fireplaces remained common in upper class bedrooms.

Image from Highclere Castle

Colors tended to trend slightly darker in Edwardian-era living rooms, or in this case Downton’s Gothic-inspired saloon – which serves as the heart of the home’s social gatherings. Wall coverings made of leather, as well as Japanned furnishings and an ornate fireplace, create an impressive gathering space for guests.

Image from Highclere Castle

No dinner scene was complete without candelabras, which were used to create ambiance even as electricity came into wider use. Of course, the era’s formalities also called for glass goblets and silver place settings, while centuries old portrait paintings keep close watch over the Granthams and their dinner guests.

Image from itv

Downton Abbey has certainly been influential in bringing back Edwardian style, and there’s no reason you can’t adopt a little of the Granthams’ surroundings into your own home! Whether you want to start small with a silver candelabra, or go big with a crystal chandelier or bed featuring satin upholstery, these are our top picks for getting the look.

Flea Market Inspired Get The Look

Few things are as refreshing as the beginning of a new year. A new year means a fresh start, and that includes exploring a world of new possibilities with your home decor! The distinct look of this beautifully styled Brooklyn home caught our eye as something we’d like to try ourselves. Let’s have a tour, shall we?

Once you manage to direct your attention away from the stunning mantel (below), which serves as a definitive focal point, you’ll notice the eclectic mix of furnishings: French-style armchairs, antique mirrors, and simple vases and accessories, all anchored by textured rugs that bring warmth and simple sophistication.

Simplicity reigns in the remainder of the two-story residence as well, allowing the home’s architecture to speak for itself. In a small seating area, sparse – yet striking – furnishings and a single pendant lamp keep the focus where it should be: on the ornate crown molding.

In the parlor, floor-to-ceiling windows stream in plenty of natural light, highlighting the room’s tall ceilings and tufted pink sofa, which is contrasted nicely with not-too-feminine furnishings elsewhere. The homeowner’s collections are displayed in groups on a cabinet for artful impact.

A console table featuring a metal base and marble top adds industrial flair, as does an industrial-style shelf that holds more of the homeowner’s collections. The shelf also serves as storage for the homeowner (who is an artist), holding vintage painting gear, mannequin, tubes of pigment and paint brushes.

In the bedroom, as in the parlor, overtly feminine furnishings (including a tufted pink chair and mirrored dressing table) dot the decor but are contrasted with transitional pieces, such as a highboy dresser with round hardware. A cake plate is a creative storage place for trinkets and other jewelry. And did you notice the sliding doors? What more could a girl ask for?

Rustic Christmas: Get The Look

Spare yet warm decor sets the tone for an idyllic family Christmas in this home, providing a perfect neutral backdrop for greenery that includes fresh clippings of pine and spruce. In the kitchen, a simple row of garland lends an informal feel that complements the cozy space.

Featured in Country Living Photography by Max Kim-Bee Interior design by Kristin Alber

In the dining room, armless wing chairs sit under a weathered round dining table, which invites the family ’round for relaxed holidays meals. We love the attention to detail with the chalkboard’s reference to “‘The Night Before Christmas.” Cozy textures also feature prominently in the master bedroom, where a slipcovered headboard and striped duvet ensure plenty of visions of sugarplums.

Put those elves to work! In the garage, a cabinet holds all the essentials for crafting and – during the holidays – wrapping presents. An well-organized craft center is such a great idea for busy moms!

Featured in Country Living Photography by Max Kim-Bee Interior design by Kristin Alber

Believe it or not, this stone fireplace (with essential blazing fire) graces the home’s covered patio! Furnished like a living room, a patio is a great alternative location for unwrapping gifts Christmas morning for anyone who lives in warmer climates (this home is located in Arizona). A large-scale wreath and tree donning silver and gold ornaments round out the simply stylish holiday decor.

A New Orleans native, interior designer Suzanne Rheinstein is internationally known for her elegant, sophisticated aesthetic. Her motto? Fewer things but better things, focusing on a mixture of beautiful objects, furniture styles, personal art, painted surfaces, and great attention to comfort, textures, details and light. In homage, we rounded up a few of our favorite spaces from Rheinstein’s vast portfolio, all of which illustrate her powerful belief that “living well every day is much more important than getting your house together only for special occasions.”
