The new look of crystal chandeliers - Romantic traditional
Romantic traditional:

We love when designers take at traditional go-to staple item and infuse it with new life and a distinctly updated sensibility. Crystal chandeliers are the latest thing to get a modern makeover and we’re introducing a new collection that features glamorous new interpretations of classics. Strands of crystal beads spill down in waterfall effects, often interspersed with colored crystal accents that showcase a flair for geometry that is more 21st century than Grandma’s old heirloom chandelier. Draped swags of crystals or semi-precious stones read as alternately over the top glam or delightfully eclectic. We still have a soft spot for traditional looks (especially when decked out as fine as these lovelies are), but we’re sure even Grandma would approve of this makeover!

From a simple tweet to a nursery complete, Project Nursery Fabulous began with two designers and a twitter conversation and ended with this gorg nursery featured on HGTV Canada. Expecting her first girl after 2 boys, designer Gretchen Aubuchon joined forces with Meredith Heron (whom she met on Twitter) to transform her nursery from baby boy blue to pretty in pink. Turquoise sprinkled throughout the room offered a twist on the traditional while bold honeysuckle grasscloth walls pop with color contrasting the Bungalow 5 bookcases. We added our Layla Grayce touch with crisp white New Arrivals crib bedding and a fun Dash and Albert leopard pink rug that will grow with baby from nursery to tween. Our Malibu chandy proved a showstopper in the room with its turquoise strung beads and hemp detail getting almost as many oohs and ahhs as sweet baby Lucy, the most fabulous part of this project nursery.

Summer is the perfect time to work this look, bringing in pops of bright aqua, blue and green with citrusy yellows, lime and orange. We’re loving these zesty hues uses as accents against lacquer white furniture with touches of sparkling gold. Go for a strong statement with a rug, lamp or accent table in a vivid and unexpected color, or just dip your toes into the summer brights trend by accessorizing with colorful pillows and accessories. Industrial Chic
Regina Andrew Antique Mercury Glass Saucer Pendant, 115 Bookcase, Aidan Gray Small Boule Accent Table

While the term “Industrial Chic” may at first conjure up visions of something mass made and sterile, this trend is anything but, instead focused on items that have a sense of history dating back to the early 1900’s when the industrial age first began. Metal plays a big part of the style with machined iron and steel paired with unfinished wood for a look that is delightfully nostalgic. We’re loving the look of adding one or two key pieces to transitional interiors, giving rooms an injection of the unexpected. Think accent tables or storage shelving that have a functional, chic “old factory” look, or the simple shapes of metal pendant lighting. These cool vintage inspired finds accent interiors with rustic, utilitarian style. Ready to add some personality to your rooms? Check out the latest in Industrial Chic

Now with the introduction of her gorgeous collection of antique reproductions, Tara Shaw Maison, it’s almost like hiring Tara for your own home! We’re thrilled to introduce you to the fabulous woman behind the collection and give you a chance to win one of her amazing pieces.

Give us a peek into your personal style, faves, inspirations and guilty pleasures!

  • Signature colors: Typically, I work in neutrals for interiors and wear black or cream (I travel a lot and it takes the planning out of packing!) But I think each space calls for a fresh idea; never cookie cutter. Right now I am working on a showcase house in LA (House of Windsor) where I used orange and taupe accented with black and my sepia art pieces.
  • My 5 favorite Tara Shaw Maison designs: I always list the Maison Biblioteque as my favorite (it was the piece that made me start my reproduction line). I have the Rococo bench in the front foyer of my home and a pair of Maison black lanterns over the bar in my contemporary kitchen. The Silverleaf Venetian Mirror hangs over a vanity in my powder room, juxtaposed with contemporary German chrome fixtures, and last but definitely not least, the tall back Italian Fauteuil is in my living room, a favorite chair for my husband!
  • Coffee table book I love: Style by John Saladino
  • My favorite place on Earth is: Lucca, Italy.
  • Cause I care deeply about: The inner city of New Orleans. We work with a program that helps men and women get a new start. We have used the participants in their addiction recovery program as our workforce for many years.
  • In my handbag right now: Burt’s Bees for lips, dog treats for the 2 whippets that travel with me, a Maison Pearson hairbrush, my iPhone and vitamins.
  • My guilty pleasure is: Shopping for antique jewelry.
  • The superpower I would love to have: Being able to time travel.
  • You’d be surprised to know: I cook for my husband almost every night I am home.
  • My signature go-to fashion item: Pearls, pearls, pearls! I don’t care if I am in flip flops or a long gown, I have my pearls on.

Despite being just a year old, home furnishings company Gabby is well versed in exceptional furniture design. Creating decor with a story, unexpected details hallmark the line of antique reproductions, charming us with the use of reclaimed wood, distressed finishes and nailhead trim. We’re thrilled to be the first online retailer with the opportunity to share this collection. Let’s meet the inspirational force behind it, William Bew White IV!

Give us a taste of Gabby’s beginnings, your faves & inspirations

  • Gabby began when: About 3 years ago, I felt unfulfilled in my career. I had a great job but didn’t have a passion for my work. My father’s business Summer Classics (an outdoor furniture company) began importing a variety of case goods from Asia and Europe as complementary accessories to their furniture. I brought together my desire to build my own business and my desire to work with my father, and decided to quit my current job to create Gabby under the umbrella of Summer Classics. I studied the market, developed design, traveled all over Asia visiting factories and despite the difficulties of the recession, launched Gabby in Atlanta.
  • Gabby got its name from: Gabriella is a family name belonging to my late grandmother, my sister and my niece. The Gabby name has all of the elements of a good brand. It is short, simple, easy to remember, and it is a family business. We also hope that our customers and prospects always “gab” about our products in a positive way. We want every piece to make a statement and to be talked about.
  • My signature colors are: I’m big on neutral colors with some gilded and silver-leafed finishes. I usually dress casual and comfortable. I guess this translates into our casual style of our furniture. The relaxed look is trending.
  • Favorite coffee table book: The New Eighteenth-Century Style: Rediscovering a French Décor, by Michele Lalande. I find myself looking through this book all of the time. It’s French and eclectic, just my style.
  • I can’t live without: My beautiful wife, my beautiful baby girl, chocolate, beer.
  • Cause I care deeply about: I’ve been involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters for almost 8 years now. Being a mentor to an underprivileged child is quite rewarding.
  • A superpower I would love to have: The ability to have any superpower. Why not? If I had to choose one it would be time travel.

WILLIAM’S FAVORITE GABBY PIECES

  • Athena Chandelier – Quatrefoils are showing up in a lot of designs right now and we have worked on incorporating them into several pieces. I really like how our new Athena Chandelier turned out. It has a modern feel but with a rusty black finish. I think I’ll take one.
  • The Caroline Chest – We had the idea of pressing painted burlap fabric to this beautifully beaded wood chest. The fabric adds a touch of sophistication and texture and really works well with the French provincial hardware and natural limed top. I liked it so much I named it after my daughter!
  • The Kate Linen Table – The original idea came from one of my mother’s antique tables. The combination of the reclaimed pine base, the linen top with nailhead trim, and the glass top make it one of my favorites. Thanks for the idea, Mom!
  • The Martel Chair – You might not think it from looking at it, but in my opinion, this metal chair is the most comfortable in the collection. The simple lines mixed with a soft linen make the Martel an instant classic. It’s the perfect pitch!

IT’S GIVEAWAY TIME: Giveaway for those with the “gift of the gab!” William is graciously offering one lucky reader $500 of Gabby furnishings. Tell us below or on Facebook your favorite Gabby item and then “gab” about it on your blog, Facebook page or Twitter tagging Layla Grayce @laylagrayce and Gabby @gabbydecor, and you’re automatically entered to win. Contest closes at end of day, Wednesday, May 25.

Our lucky winner is Amy Regnier who gets $500 toward her Gabby purchase for “gabbing” that her favorite is this versatile Nathalie table as a stylish solution to her home’s space issues. Congrats Amy!
