It’s new, it’s gorgeous and it’s ours exclusively! We are thrilled to be the first to offer you the new Bella Blue Collection from renowned Pine Cone Hill designer and author, Annie Selke. Annie has graciously offered us exclusive rights to introduce Bella Blue and also is including a free gift, her book, Fresh American Spaces to the first to order! She joins us today to talk about the inspiration for Bella Blue and tell us a bit about herself.

Tell us how you came to be a textile designer.
You know, I don’t really think of myself as a textile designer. Isn’t that odd? I consider myself someone with a good eye and a passion for product. That said, I was drawn to all things textile from a very early age (like, four years old) and stayed close to that love throughout college, where I majored in textile science, but not design.

What inspired the new Bella Blue Collection?
Bella Blue is a reinterpretation of our longtime favorite pattern named Caroline. It was time for Caroline to retire, but her devoted fans—and there are many—demanded, in the nicest way, that we fill her shoes. Thus, Bella was born.

In your book, you showcase 5 Fresh American decorating styles. Where do you think the Bella Blue collection fits into those styles?
Good question. For me, she’s a hybrid of Refined Romantic and Everyday Exuberance.

What elements combine to create that look?
From Refined Romantic, Bella has the elements of flowers and provenance (the pattern itself, which was adapted from a vintage document print), and detail (in the lovely ruffled detailing). From Everyday Exuberance, she has the element of color—a fresh and pretty palette on a lovely shade of blue, perked up with white polka dots.

How do you like to spend your time when you aren’t designing?
I love to travel, I love to cook, I love to spend time with my dogs, and I love riding the range at the White Stallion Ranch in Tucson, AZ!

Tell us something that most people might not know about you.
I love team cattle penning, also at the White Stallion Ranch! It is the most fun 17 seconds ever!

Catherine Fitzsimmons of Rikshaw Design has a knack for designing charming prints that bring a Bohemian flair to both home decor and apparel. A spontaneous adventurer, Catherine first became captivated by the tradition of block-printing while visiting India. “Watching the Indian artisans create gorgeous block printed textiles in person left me mesmerized”, says Catherine. “I fell in love with the imperfections of a block print, the saturated colors, and the true artistry and dedication that it takes to finish just one meter of fabric. I instantly knew that I wanted to incorporate those techniques with my design sensibility for pattern and color, to create a line that would be loved both by the child as well as the parent. While our customers might first be drawn in by the prints and color palette, they are won over by our quality- each piece is soft, comfortable, and truly get better with age.” Catherine created Rikshaw Design in 2008 and we are thrilled to offer her Bohemian inspired collection of bedding for the crib and home, children’s accessories and clothing.

What’s your best tip for bringing the boho vibe into our decor and homes?
My best tip is there aren’t any rules! Mix old with new, layer patterns and textures and make sure it has a relaxed, comfortable feel.

• Signature colors: For interiors I love a pop of orange and hot pink, but I generally wear cool colors like greens and blues.
• Favorite Rikshaw design: I love the new children’s romper, it’s too cute for words! And I am also really pleased with the new prints for our women’s kurtas this year.

• Favorite coffee table books: Rajasthan by Pauline Van Lynden is a beauty… full of beautiful Indian color!

• I cannot live without: My dog Jumby.
• My favorite place on earth: I am not sure I have been there yet, but a white sandy beach with nothing to do but stare out at turquoise water is pretty amazing.
• My favorite guilty pleasures: Bubble baths and reality tv.
• A superpower I would love to have: To be able to time travel!
