Q&A with Annie Selke; Founder & CEO
Layla Grayce: What is your name, title, and how long have you been with Pine Cone Hill?
Annie Selke: I’m Annie Selke, Founder and CEO. I’ve been with the company since the beginning!
LG: When and why did you decide to showcase your brand on Layla Grayce?
AS: Tiffany and Wendy contacted Pine Cone Hill while Layla Grayce was still in its infancy, and from our initial conversations, it was obvious that they had a clear vision for their new brand. This made the decision to showcase our products with them very easy.
LG: How has your brand and its style/offerings changed over the years?
AS: We’ve expanded our selections dramatically since the beginning while staying true to style-driven design and superior quality. We also introduced Dash & Albert rugs to the world a little over 10 years ago along with Fresh American—a collection of sassy yet practical home items, with a focus on indoor/outdoor use in 2013.
LG: Where do you see your brand 10 years from now?
AS: I envision making more homes happy with products that stand the test of time. In early 2015, we will be launching a luxury brand that will include Exquisite Italian/European bed linen, gorgeous wool, and silk carpets and upholstered headboards. We have also recently introduced Dash and Albert to Europe, and we plan to expand globally.
LG: What is your favorite memory working with Layla Grayce over the past 10 years?
AS: It’s hard to think of a memory that isn’t up there as a favorite. Tiffany and Wendy have been such positive partners to work with over the years, and we always have more than a few laughs when we get together. One that stands out is when I had the opportunity to host them for a visit at our offices in the Berkshires in Massachusetts. It was lovely to show them our offices and have them meet everyone involved in the process at Pine Cone Hill. My dog Dash fell in love with them—he always did favor gorgeous blondes!
