Q&A with Annie Selke; Founder & CEO

Layla Grayce: What is your name, title, and how long have you been with Pine Cone Hill?
Annie Selke: I’m Annie Selke, Founder and CEO. I’ve been with the company since the beginning!

LG: When and why did you decide to showcase your brand on Layla Grayce?
AS: Tiffany and Wendy contacted Pine Cone Hill while Layla Grayce was still in its infancy, and from our initial conversations, it was obvious that they had a clear vision for their new brand. This made the decision to showcase our products with them very easy.

LG: How has your brand and its style/offerings changed over the years?
AS: We’ve expanded our selections dramatically since the beginning while staying true to style-driven design and superior quality. We also introduced Dash & Albert rugs to the world a little over 10 years ago along with Fresh American—a collection of sassy yet practical home items, with a focus on indoor/outdoor use in 2013.

LG:  Where do you see your brand 10 years from now?
AS: I envision making more homes happy with products that stand the test of time. In early 2015, we will be launching a luxury brand that will include Exquisite Italian/European bed linen, gorgeous wool, and silk carpets and upholstered headboards. We have also recently introduced Dash and Albert to Europe, and we plan to expand globally.

LG: What is your favorite memory working with Layla Grayce over the past 10 years?
AS: It’s hard to think of a memory that isn’t up there as a favorite. Tiffany and Wendy have been such positive partners to work with over the years, and we always have more than a few laughs when we get together. One that stands out is when I had the opportunity to host them for a visit at our offices in the Berkshires in Massachusetts. It was lovely to show them our offices and have them meet everyone involved in the process at Pine Cone Hill. My dog Dash fell in love with them—he always did favor gorgeous blondes!

Expressions of Color: Aqua

A color so refreshing you want to jump right in, aqua adds an instant dash of coastal charm when used in interiors. Equally lovely when used in fashion and jewelry, this color family ranges from whitened tints of sea glass to robin’s egg blue, wafting like a fresh breeze through the color palette. Shop all aqua items here.

Ruffles 3 ways: Audrey Ruffled Curtain Panels

Rustic Ruffles

At Layla Grayce we have a deep love for anything ruffled, a little girly and pretty, just like these lovely ruffled white curtain panels from Pom Pom at Home. But can ruffled curtains work in any room? We think so! For your design viewing pleasure, we present Audrey ruffled curtains styled three different ways – romantic, rustic and sweet. Get inspired!

Day of the Dog

Being a fan of both simplicity and functionality when it comes to rugs, Dash and Albert would seem an obvious choice. But their impressive nature really lies in the pairing of colors and ability to translate them in to every room in the house. The latest introductions to the line are no exception. The Marina Stripe, Pond Stripe, Miles Duck Egg and St. John?Äôs Indoor/Outdoor Rugs use subtle basic colors that work with all d?©cor and are spiced up with unexpected hues like lime greens and aqua blues. And of course, the durable nature of these hybrid rugs make them ideal for letting the same patterns flow out your doors and onto your patio. It?Äôs like adding a room onto your house!

Thinking outside the box is definitely Dash and Albert?Äôs forte. Who would think pink for a living room rug? But the cheery stripes of the Port Stripe and Taffy Rugs work to freshen up the space and pique your interest. The unexpected color choices help to break up any overwhelming amounts of dark wood in your furniture. And no need to forgo ease of care and affordability with this line ?Äì Dash and Albert has it all.
