Spring is right around the corner and I’m dreaming of flowers! I’d love to begin my spring cleaning with a garden full of tulips outside and a new set of bed linens inside. This Pine Cone Hill Watercolor Flowers Duvet is right up my alley. Crisp white linens dotted with vibrant watercolored flowers – so perfect for springtime. I’d pair it with the Arteriors Zoey Mustard Dot lamp to keep the colorful, bright theme going. I happen to love a round mirror over a bed. Especially one with an inlaid quatrefoil like the Regina Andrew Decor Lula Gloss White Mirror. What a cheerful room to welcome in the new season. Happy Spring!

Pine Cone Hill Giveaway + Annie Selke’s Happy Layla Grayce Room Design!

Annie Selke for @LaylaGrayceHappy almost-weekend, design fans! I’m Annie Selke, founder and designer of Pine Cone Hill, Dash & Albert Rug Company, and Annie Selke Home fabrics. For nearly twenty years, I’ve been searching all over the globe for the most inspiring ideas to translate into fun, functional, and fabulous bedding, rugs, sleepwear, table linens, and accessories. I also created the blog Fresh American, where you’ll find tons of tips on decorating, entertaining, shopping, cooking, travel, and more. When my good friends Tiffany and Wendy (co-founders and owners of Layla Grayce) asked me to be their guest blogger today, I was thrilled! What better place to discover fresh finds for the home than Layla Grayce?

Since we’ve got a case of the winter blahs here in the Northeast, I really want to think spring and start shopping for bright, perky products that give a generous dose of happy to the home! I started with my new Pine Cone Hill Watercolor Floral Sheets, and created a painterly palette of citrus-inspired colors—an effervescent mix of sassy shades that really makes a room sing.

Dash & Albert Rugs

Dash & Albert has long been one of our most beloved brands—and for very good reason! Familiar yet fresh, the bright Rhapsody rug (above) is one of our new favorites, dancing with a tribal-inspired diamond design in a bold pink, purple and red colorway. Below, graphic patterns in more subdued shades appear on the Garden Path, Indoor/Outdoor Trimaran Striped, Plain Tin Ivory, and Indoor/Outdoor Catamaran Stripe styles.

A tried-and-true customer favorite is the Indoor/Outdoor Diamond Rug in a light blue and ivory colorway that is easy to clean and is terrific for all high-traffic areas. A bright, fun option is the Yacht Stripe style, featuring broad, alternating stripes in cotton candy pink and white. Perfect for a little girl’s room!

If a pattern exists, Dash & Albert has likely transformed it into a show-stopping rug, as seen in the variety of styles below. Dash & Albert rugs coordinate and complement our extensive line of Pine Cone Hill bedding and also work well with a variety of decor styles including cottage, traditional and contemporary.

It would be impossible to not smile in a room with a rug as cheery and bright as these. The reversible Tiki Stripe style, in lightweight woven cotton, makes a bold statement in magenta, aqua, orange and green. Likewise, vivid flowers come to life in the Power Poppies area rug, a low-maintenance style with big impact in a girl’s bedroom or playful living room.

A rule of thumb for outdoor living spaces? Design them just as you would your indoor spaces, and the Indoor/Outdoor Negril rug, which is hoseable, scrubbable and bleachable and has been UV-treated to stand up to the elements, goes a long way towards making you feel right at home in any outdoor space.

Fall is officially here and that can only mean one thing…wardrobe re-vamp! It’s time to put away the tank tops and bring in the sweaters; swap out those summer sandals for your cozy boots. For some of us, switching over our closets from summer to fall can be quite the ordeal. So today’s feature is focusing on helping you transition your wardrobe slowly, and working your favorite summer pieces into your early-fall ensembles. The best way to make a summer top outlive its season, is to layer it with fall accessories. A classic fedora and a lightweight scarf are the perfect pieces to warm up your look. Finish off your outfit with a skirt in a heavy fabric (think wool or tweed) and equestrian-style riding boots. Before you spend hours swapping out your wardrobe, take a look at some of your favorite pieces from the season, and find new ways to love them!

With those occasions in mind, we created three looks using our favorite tablecloths, napkins, dishware, glassware, serving pieces, trays and more. The best part is, you can easily achieve the same result at home! Simply choose a standout piece–we love our Khaki Petit Rose Creamer, Pine Cone Hill Chickles Napkins, or Shabby Chic Khaki Table Runner–and let it set the tone for your color palette and theme. Mix and match with pieces you already have, and shop our tried and true kitchen and tabletop wares, to complete the setting with a uniquely personal and charming touch.

From Annie To You: New Bella Blue (And A Free Book Too!)

Annie Selke Pine Cone Hill Bella Blue Interview

Bella Blue by Annie Selke of Pine Cone Hill

It’s new, it’s gorgeous and it’s ours exclusively! We are thrilled to be the first to offer you the new Bella Blue Collection from renowned Pine Cone Hill designer and author, Annie Selke. Annie has graciously offered us exclusive rights to introduce Bella Blue and also is including a free gift, her book, Fresh American Spaces to the first to order! She joins us today to talk about the inspiration for Bella Blue and tell us a bit about herself.

Tell us how you came to be a textile designer.
You know, I don’t really think of myself as a textile designer. Isn’t that odd? I consider myself someone with a good eye and a passion for product. That said, I was drawn to all things textile from a very early age (like, four years old) and stayed close to that love throughout college, where I majored in textile science, but not design.

Selke Interview for Bella Blue PCHWhat inspired the new Bella Blue Collection?
Bella Blue is a reinterpretation of our longtime favorite pattern named Caroline. It was time for Caroline to retire, but her devoted fans—and there are many—demanded, in the nicest way, that we fill her shoes. Thus, Bella was born.

In your book, you showcase 5 Fresh American decorating styles. Where do you think the Bella Blue collection fits into those styles?
Good question. For me, she’s a hybrid of Refined Romantic and Everyday Exuberance.

What elements combine to create that look?
Pine Cone Hill Bella BlueFrom Refined Romantic, Bella has the elements of flowers and provenance (the pattern itself, which was adapted from a vintage document print), and detail (in the lovely ruffled detailing). From Everyday Exuberance, she has the element of color—a fresh and pretty palette on a lovely shade of blue, perked up with white polka dots.

How do you like to spend your time when you aren’t designing?
I love to travel, I love to cook, I love to spend time with my dogs, and I love riding the range at the White Stallion Ranch in Tucson, AZ!

Tell us something that most people might not know about you.
I love team cattle penning, also at the White Stallion Ranch! It is the most fun 17 seconds ever!

With a penchant for color, texture and pattern, Annie Selke founded Pine Cone Hill and Dash & Albert Rug Company, a collection of linens, rugs and accessories that have woven their way into homes as beloved staples. Her vision of American design comes alive in her products and more recently, in her new book, Fresh American Spaces. Today Annie shares her “give” and “get” lists for the holidays, along with a favorite memory from her childhood:

My favorite family holiday tradition is… My favorite and most vivid holiday memory was hanging and opening stockings at my grandparent’s house in Bedford, NY. Instead of what most consider traditional holiday stockings, my grandmother used to cut pairs of panty hose in half, one leg to a person and hang them on the wooden fireplace mantel. They were seemingly insignificant when hung, but when we would come down in the morning to see what Santa had brought, each stretchy stocking had taken on its own unique shape, dictated by the presents held within. A dime and a tangerine were at the bottom of each stocking and there was always a stack, usually of books or games, under each stocking that the stocking just couldn’t accommodate. We would need help getting them off their nail as the stockings reached from the top of the mantel down to the floor and the weighed quite a lot! I remember my stocking being taller than I was and just loving opening each individually wrapped present and enjoying the tangerine at the end!
