The best things about Christmas always have to do with children. They make Christmas magical! And the best things about Christmas for children always come in a box, with a bow. I already have a few presents under my tree and it’s sheer pain for my kids not to know what is in each package.

This year I have really made a point to buy gifts that are meaningful and well made. Layla Grayce has the gift ideas that I need and desire for my children. From blocks to cars and dolls, Layla Grayce has it all. Here are a few toys that are on my wish list that I think you will love too.

Few things have the power to transform a home the way candles do , with so little time and effort! Holiday candles, especially, are essential for two reasons: 1) to fill your home with seasonal aromas (like mulled wine and twilight vanilla), and/or 2) to create a warm, inviting ambiance. With the mere act of lighting the wick, your living room becomes a glowing respite from the cold winter chill outside. Or, opt for row of unscented tealight candleholders as a dinner table centerpiece. Whatever the occasion, they’re the ultimate little luxury. Shop all candles and candle holders. >>

Expecting one-of-each twins? Unsure how to decorate a gender neutral and stylish nursery built for two? Don’t worry: Layla Grayce founder/co-owner Tiffany Harris, mom to son and daughter twins Cole and Kirra, dipped into her design expertise to curate an inspiring gender-neutral nursery that exudes top-notch style. Instead of avoiding stereotypical boy and girl shades, Harris took a fresh approach by embracing contemporary shades of soft blue, pale pink and lime green. Armed with a complementary color palette, Harris combined clean-lined, modern furnishings – like the wooden crib and sleek, comfortable glider – with patterned bedding and a graphic, colorful rug, creating a youthful vibe both sophisticated and chic yet neither masculine or feminine. Two babies means double the storage, so a functional changing table equipped with drawers (and playful circular detailing!) in addition to a brightly colored nightstand is a must. Add a few fun-loving toys and snuggly accessories, and you can check “stylish nursery for two” off your never-ending list.

Q&A with Christiane Lemieux, Founder of DwellStudio

DwellStudio Home Eva Bronze Pillow, Modern Border Ink Duvet Cover Set, Mini Stripe Smoke Wool Rug

Name: Christiane Lemieux, Founder of DwellStudio

Tell us a little about your background. I have a degree in fashion design from the Parson’s School of Design, and worked for GAP and Isaac Mizrahi before falling in love with and transitioning to home design. I loved and still love the idea of marrying beautiful fabric to a piece of furniture! After working in the field for about a year, I founded DwellStudio in 2000.

What role does fashion play at DwellStudio? We are a fashion-driven company and spend a lot of time studying the runways for forward-thinking colors and details. I’m also inspired by my travels. When I travel, I immerse myself into the culture to discover what it has new to offer our designs.

What trends are you noticing? We’ve really been inspired by the richness of some of the things we’ve been seeing. The reds and oxbloods, the handwork and textures. There’s a real yearning now for things that feel special, rather than mass-produced.

What inspired DwellStudio’s fall styles? We like to have signature colors. For fall, we mixed in reds, camels and taupes, along with the navies, reds, yellows and oranges we saw on the runways. The best part about our collections from season to season is that there’s continuity throughout, from bedding to rugs. We build our lines so that new styles can be incorporated easily.

DwellStudio Creator Christiane Lemieux

Describe the inspiration behind your fabulous rugs. This season we wanted our rug designs to be versatile but add design and luxe to any room. We added gorgeous materials like rayon for a chic yet durable shine. Also, the patterns are graphic enough to make a statement but work in almost any space.

Your top 3 favorite products from the fall collection are… I am in love with our new mini stripe rug. It is an amazing chic basic that works in every room. I also love our new Eva pillow. The hand crewelwork elevates the geometric print, and the quality and texture really make this pillow. Lastly, I just ordered the Modern Border in Ink for myself. I love the simplicity and graphic quality of the black and off-white and the quality of the sheeting is phenomenal. It is from one of the best mills.

Any quick tips for adding fresh fall style into the home? Yes, a few! Pillows are an inexpensive way to layer in fall style, texture and color. I also love throws that are warm and cozy and add that layered feeling. And scented candles. The sense of smell is oftentimes forgotten, but candles in red currant or other seasonal scents feel so good this time of year.

We’re not in Kansas anymore! Take Dorothy’s word for it and follow the yellow brick road to The Emerald City, because green, green, green is going to be big this fall. We love it in all its variations and applications, whether it’s a colorful twist on a traditional chandelier or a boldly saturated wool rug that evokes the look of fresh green grass. And while the hue does make a statement, it’s never overbearing or gaudy. It’s a fall must for your home and your wardrobe. Shop the trend >>
